Milk plastic....

hey readers this week for science we are turning milk into plastic. (interesting!) 





Aim: make milk into plastic. 

steps :

1. pour 1 cup of milk into a pot or Microwaveable container. 
2. Heat the milk in the microwave or stove. 
3. add 4 teaspoon if white vinegar.  
4. add the hot milk in to the mug with the vinegar. 
5. stir the mixture with a spoon. 
6. stack 4 layers of paper towels on a surface that is safe to get it damp. 
7. scoop out the curd with a spoon and place them on the paper towel. 
8. Fold the paper towel over the curd and press down absorb excess liquid. 
9. knead all curd together into a ball of dough. 
10. colour shape or mold the dough as you like 
11. you can colour you dough with food colouring 
12. you can add glitter to make it sparkle! 
13. you can use cookie cutters to shape your dough. 
14. or you can sculpt the dough with you hands. 
15. what shapes can you create?
16. put all your Creation on a paper towel and let them dry over night. 
17.  now you have turned milk in to plastic.    





Equipment :

1.  stove or oven microwave.  
2. Measuring  cup 
3. Measuring spoon (Tsp)
4. Milk (1 cup ) 
5. Pot that Microwaveable container 
6. wight vinegar 
7. paper towels 
8. spoon 
9. mug

fizzy drink and mentos

Hello readers last week for science we did a experiment with fizzy juice and mentos.    





Aim : to see witch fizzy drink reacts the  most with mentos lollies. 



Height of reaction in cm. 

1. coke - 100 ml 

2. sparkling duet - 2cm 

3. Lemonade -  2cm


Equipment 

1. mentos 

2. coke 

3. Lemonade 

3.  sparkling duet

4. beker 

5. ruler 


method 

1. collected and set up beaker and ruler. 

2. got the 1st liquid and put 100 mls in the beaker 

3. put the mentos in the liquid. 

4. measured the height of the fizz 

5. repeat steps 1-4 with second and third liquids  

skittles

 chromatography is a technique for the separation of a mixture by passing it in solution or suspension through a medium in witch the components move a different rates 


Aim : to separate the colours from   skittles  by using 
 chromatography. 


 
step 1: get your equipment set up ready to pour the 50mls of water  into the s with the skittles 

step 2: place the skittles into the peti dish around the edge 

step 3: pour 50ml water gently into the middle if the petri dish 

step 4: watch as the water removes the dye from the   skittles . see watch colour reaches the middle fastest  

step 5: reccord your results on the table below
